ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday telephoned leaders of various political parties and took them into confidence over prevailing political situation in the country.
Gilani called PML-Q chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, MQM leader Altaf Hussain, ANP leader Asfandyar Wali, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-F Chief Pir Pagara and others.
According to sources, the Prime Minister exchanged views over political situation in the country besides taking them into confidence over the appointment of Punjab governor.
Gilani was of view that all the political leadership would be taken into confidence after consultation on major decision over national issues.

Altaf Hussain phones Fazal, Jamali, Karim

LONDON: Altaf Hussain, the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), contacted Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Fazal Karim on telephone and discussed with them issues related to the changing political scenario in the country.
It was Hussain’s second telephonic contact with Fazl-ur-Rehman in less than a week.
According to reports, Hussain and Jamali agreed on calling an all parties conference (APC) to develop a national consensus on major issues facing the country.
In addition, he called SIC chief Sahibzada Fazal Karim and exchanged views on issues of mutual interests.

KARACHI: The political temperature in the corridors of powers rose to new heights when Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain telephoned Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PML-Q’s Mushahid Hussain, Geo News reported Thursday.
Meanwhile, MQM’s Senator Babar Khan Ghouri telephoned senior PML-N leader Ishaq Dar and discussed current political situation.
