JUI-F's Senate chief whip resigns

Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazlur Rehman (JUI-F) resigned from the post of the Chief Whip of the government in the Senate on Friday.
Haideri had been serving in this position from the last two years. However, after the JUI-F decided to break away from the government in the centre, there was pressure on him to resign from his post.
The senator is the third lawmaker of the JUI-F to resign from his position. Earlier, in protest of the sacking of Minister of Science and Technology Azam Khan Swati, the JUI-F had submitted the resignations of two cabinet members to the prime minister including Housing Minister Rehmatullah Kakar and Tourism Minister Maulana Attaur Rehman.
The JUI-F has rejected several reconciliation attempts by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). However the party has decided to not leave the provincial governments in Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Nawaz believes in policy of reconciliation
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif on Friday telephoned Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to assure him that his party will not become part of any plan to destabilise the government.
Sources informed that the PML-N chief said that his party believes in a policy of reconciliation, after which the prime minister thanked Sharif for his cooperation with the government.
Sharif also called Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani to discuss political situation in the back drop of his meetings with Maulana Fazalur Rehman.

JUI-F holds CWC meeting

ISLAMABAD: The Central Working Committee (CWC) of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) held a meeting on Wednesday to chalk out its future line of action after quitting the PPP-led ruling alliance. 

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman chaired the meeting, held in Islamabad. 

JUI-F’s Balcohistan chief Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani, senior minister Maulana Abdul Wasay and party’s members from Gilgit Baltisitan also attended the meeting. 

According to sources, the CWC has endorsed party's decision to sit on the opposition benches in center.

Shujaat invites JUI-F to form government in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has invited the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam -Fazal (JUI-F) to from new coalition government in Balochistan.

This he said while talking to reporters after addressing the Charismas ceremony here at the PML-Q Secretariat, he said PML-Q and JUI-F could form the government in Balochistan.

Earlier, addressing the Charismas ceremony Shujaat Hussain said that legislation is required to stop the exploitation of the Blasphemy laws, adding that those who involved in the misuse of the Blasphemy laws should be punished.

He said that Asia Bibi refused to committing Blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), adding that no law can allow to punish the innocents.

Akram Masigh Gill MNA has said that the participation of people from all schools of thought in the Charismas ceremony would promote interfaith harmony and unity among the nation.

Attia Inayat Ullah MNA said that according to the thoughts of Quaid-e-Azam all the minorities have the equal rights to live and serve the country. She said that PML-Q manifesto protects the rights of minorities in the country.

Ambassadors of China, Sudan, Greece, South Korea, Czech Republic, Palestine, Iraq, Netherlands, Philippine, Russia and the high commissions of British, Bangladesh and Switzerland also participated in the ceremony.

Shujaat Hussain cut the Charismas cake on the end of the ceremony.

Meeting of Malik with Fazal ur Rehman concludes, unsuccessful

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik met with the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday at his residence in Islamabad.

Malik conveyed President Asif Ali Zardari’s message to the JUI-F cheif that the PPP government wants to continue its policy of reconciliation, according to sources.

The purpose of the meeting was to clarify all misunderstandings that emerged after the dismissal of the two ministers, Azam Khan Swati and Hamid Saeed Kazmi.

The JUI-F however plans to submit an application to the National Assembly speaker on Monday to sit in the opposition.

JUI-F decides to join opposition benches

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam on Thursday decided to sit on the Opposition benches in the joint session of the Parliament convened by the President on Dec 18.
According to a private television channel , the JUI-F is likely to give a proper application to the Speaker National Assembly to get their seats allotted in Opposition benches. Former federal minister Maulana Ataur Rehman who resigned in protest against the sacking of Azam Swati, ex-minister for Science and Technology, has returned his official vehicle and staff and vacated his office as well, party sources divulged. On the other hand, the JUI-F was also considering to part ways with the government both in Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. The JUI-F ministers from GB and Balochistan met with Maulana Fazalur Rehman and deliberated upon the status quo. Maulana also asked his party’s ministers to stay ready to quit anytime soon. It merits to mention that Haji Gulbar Khan, Minister for Health, Youth Affairs and Ashr-o-Zakat besides two parliamentary secretaries at GB. Balochistan’s Deputy Speaker Syed Mutee Ullah also belonged to JUI besides three other cabinet ministers.

Pakistan Peoples Party fails to satisfy JUI F

ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Federal Minister for Labour Khurshid Shah today failed to convince JUI-I chief Fazl ur Rehman

However, the PPP leader invited Fazl ur Rehman for a meeting on December 18th. ‘Sacking of the ministers was the prime minister’s prerogative and no consultation was done.’

He was talking to media after a meeting with JUI-F chief.

In reply to a question, the PPP leader said the ministers were asked to observe discipline but they did not follow the PM’s directive and continue mud-slinging against each other.

Azam Swati was instructed to only speak through proper channel but he did not follow. The minister also blamed media for widening the gap between the two coalition partners.
