ISLAMABAD: A girl who survived conjoined head surgery passed away today at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.
Neurosurgeon Dr. Khiliq-u-Zaman told the media that the operation of the conjoined twins lasted 12 hours. To save one's life, the other’s was scarified, the doctor added.
He further said that the one who survived after surgery was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on ventilators. But she could not survive either and died today.
Rs. 600,000 were provided for the twins' surgery on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari.
