KARACHI: Former test captain of Pakistan cricket team Salman Butt, who was suspended by International Cricket Council (ICC) on match fixing allegations, likely to face seven years ban and heavy financial penalty in an upcoming hearing of ICC Independent tribunal in Doha, Qatar from Jan 6-11. An Indian news agency has claimed that its sources in ICC has confirmed them that suspended Pakistan captain will handover seven years ban and heavy financial penalty while the other two pakistani players fast bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif will serve two years ban. “The way things are going for him the frequent change of lawyers and his abrasive relationship with the ICC, he does not appear to be in a position to plead his case effectively against the allegations against him. And apparently the ICC ACU have prepared a long list of evidences against him based on the fact that he was captain and responsible for the conduct of the team,” the agency source said. The above three Pakistani players were suspended by ICC in August this year during the Pakistan’s team tour of England where British tabloid News of the World revealed the spot fixing scandal with bookie Mazhar Majeed. |
