Khosa likely to become new Punjab governor

SAMAA
KARACHI: Senator Sardar Latif Khosa is likely to be named as the new constitutional head of Pakistan’s Punjab province.

President Asif Ali Zardari held day-long discussions with senior party leaders at Bilawal House to finalize the name for the challenging post in the country’s largest province.

All political parties are keeping a close eye at Bilawal House, where discussions continue to take place on the issue.

Punjab is considered a stronghold of PPP’s arch-rival PML-N and appointment of Salmaan Taseer’s replacement is certainly a tough test for the President.

Several names, including Qamar Zaman Kaira, Aitzaz Ahsan, Rehman Malik, Abida Hussain, Babar Awan and Sardar Latif Khosa, are under consideration for the job.

However, Sardar Latif Khosa, according to many, has emerged as a strong contender.
